Ever get a song stuck on in you head? Blaring in our ears. I hate it when it's a song I don't like. Ever ask God why that song? There's a meaning and plan in everything. God's plan is so intricately thought out. Every detail accounted for. Every resource set. We just need to live out... walk out our part. What is that though? What is our part in the body of Christ? Am I the pretty part? Am I the mouth, eyes, brain, arms? OK God, surely I'm not that last part of the colon, right? Every part of our body has role. Big or small. Even the parts that doctors don't know at all. And that's what makes God so great. Join me today as I explore the body.

Romans 8 The Passion Translation
8 So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.[a]2 For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us[b] from the “law” of sin and death. 3 For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature.[c]
Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. 4 So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit![d]
5 Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities.[e]6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.
7 In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction,[f] because it cannot! 8 For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those who are controlled by the flesh. 9 But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life,[g] you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him.[h]
10 Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God.[i]11 Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, he will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you!
12 So then, beloved ones, the flesh has no claims on us at all, and we have no further obligation to live in obedience to it. 13 For when you live controlled by the flesh, you are about to die. But if the life of the Spirit puts to death the corrupt ways of the flesh, we then taste his abundant life.
Sons and Daughters Destined for Glory
14 The mature children of God are those[j] who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. 15 And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,”[k] leading you back into the fear of never being good enough.[l] But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,”[m] enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”[n]16 For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”
17 And since we are his true children, we qualify to share all his treasures, for indeed, we are heirs of God himself. And since we are joined to Christ, we also inherit all that he is and all that he has.[o] We will experience being co-glorified with him provided that we accept his sufferings[p] as our own.[q]
A Glorious Destiny
18 I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory[r] that is about to be unveiled within us.[s]19 The entire universe is standing on tiptoe,[t] yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious[u] sons and daughters! 20 For against its will the universe itself has had to endure the empty futility[v]resulting from the consequences of human sin. But now, with eager expectation, 21 all creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the wonderful freedom coming to God’s children. 22 To this day we are aware of the universal agony and groaning of creation, as if it were in the contractions of labor for childbirth. 23 And it’s not just creation. We who have already experienced the firstfruits of the Spirit[w] also inwardly groan as we passionately long to experience our full status as God’s sons and daughters—including our physical bodies being transformed. 24 For this is the hope of our salvation.
But hope means that we must trust and wait for what is still unseen. For why would we need to hope for something we already have? 25 So because our hope is set on what is yet to be seen, we patiently keep on waiting for its fulfillment.
26 And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede[x] on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs[y] too deep for words.
27 God, the searcher of the heart, knows fully our longings,[z] yet he also understands the desires of the Spirit, because the Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us, his holy ones, in perfect harmony with God’s plan and our destiny.
28 So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. 29 For he knew all about us before we were born and he destined us[aa]from the beginning to share the likeness of his Son. This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become just like him.
30 Having determined our destiny ahead of time, he called us to himself and transferred his perfect righteousness to everyone he called. And those who possess his perfect righteousness he co-glorified with his Son!

Obedience is better thank sacrifice. That's all I can say. This episode is an interview with a powerful man of God, Anthony Daughtry. AD is a Market Manager / Consultant for .100 FM Hip Hop N RNB.We made a plan, but God ordered our steps. We were supposed to spend time sharing about taking responsibility for ourselves, family, etc. But, it resulted in a conversation about taking responsibility about our relationship and responsiveness to the prompting of the Lord. I was feeling some kind a way about airing it. Wondering if people would receive it or understand. This is another Word that needs to be experienced. Thank you Lord for the opportunity. Thank AD for your obedience to God. Listen in. I'm sure it will bless you. It blessed me.

Part 2 of the episode with my special guest, Pastor Warenda Williams. It didn't end there. I spent a bit of time reviewing the Constitution of The United States of America. When was the the last time you read it? Do you that it was revised in 1992? Do you know what the Electoral College is? Anybody? How about the Preamble? The Pledge of Allegiance at least?

2 Chronicles 7
v1-3 Lightening and presence of God so thick the priests couldn’t get in
v12-18 (God’s Confirmation of support. People stop and shout right here)God appeared to Solomon (how? Form? Solomon lived)
v19-22 (The But heard round the world. That part. That part now on talks about)
Ps. 68
1 Cor. 3:1-4
When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying,
“He is good;
his love endures forever.”
4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. 5 And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God. 6 The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the Lord’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the Lord and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, “His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.
7 Solomon consecrated the middle part of the courtyard in front of the temple of the Lord, and there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar he had made could not hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the fat portions.
8 So Solomon observed the festival at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him—a vast assembly, people from Lebo Hamath to the Wadi of Egypt. 9 On the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the festival for seven days more. 10 On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their homes, joyful and glad in heart for the good things the Lord had done for David and Solomon and for his people Israel.
The Lord Appears to Solomon
11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, 12 the Lord appeared to him at night and said:
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
17 “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, 18 I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to rule over Israel.’
19 “But if you[a] turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you[b] and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 21 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All[c] who pass by will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’ 22 People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—that is why he brought all this disaster on them.’”

Ps. 68
1
God! Arise with awesome power,
and every one of your enemies will scatter in fear!
2
Chase them away—all these God-haters.
Blow them away as a puff of smoke.
Melt them away like wax in the fire.
One good look at you and the wicked vanish.
3
But let all your godly lovers be glad!
Yes, let them all rejoice in your presence
and be carried away with gladness.[a]
Let them laugh and be radiant with joy!
4
Let them sing their celebration-songs
for the coming of the cloud rider whose name is Yah![b]
5–6
To the fatherless he is a father.
To the widow he is a champion friend.
To the lonely he makes them part of a family.
To the prisoners[c] he leads into prosperity until they sing for joy.
This is our Holy God in his Holy Place!
But for the rebels there is heartache and despair.[d]
7
O Lord, it was you who marched in front of your people,
leading them through the wasteland.
Pause in his presence
8
The earth shook beneath your feet; the heavens filled with clouds
before the presence of the God of Sinai.
The sacred mountain shook at the sight of the face of Israel’s God.
9
You, O God, sent the reviving rain upon your weary inheritance,
showers of blessing to refresh it.
10
So there your people settled.
And in your kindness you provided the poor with abundance.
11
God Almighty declares the word of the gospel with power,[e]
and the warring women of Zion deliver its message:[f]
12
“The conquering legions have themselves been conquered.
Look at them flee!”
Now Zion’s women are left to gather the spoils.
13
When you sleep between sharpened stakes,[g]
I see you sparkling like silver and glistening like gold,
covered by the beautiful wings of a dove![h]
14
When the Almighty found a king for himself,
it became white as snow in his shade.[i]
15–16
O huge, magnificent mountain,
you are the mighty kingdom of God![j]
All the other peaks, though impressive and imposing,
look with envy on you, Mount Zion!
For Zion is the mountain where God has chosen to live forever.
17
Look! The mighty chariots of God!
Ten thousands upon ten thousands,
more than anyone could ever number.
God is at the front,
leading them all from Mount Sinai into his sanctuary
with the radiance of holiness upon him.[k]
18
He ascends into the heavenly heights,
taking his many captured ones with him,
leading them in triumphal procession.
And gifts were given to men, even the once rebellious,
so that they may dwell with Yah.
19
What a glorious God![l]
He gives us salvation over and over,[m]
then daily he carries our burdens![n]
Pause in his presence
20
Our God is a mighty God who saves us over and over!
For the Lord, Yahweh, rescues us
from the ways of death many times.
21
But he will crush every enemy, shattering their strength.
He will make heads roll
for they refuse to repent of their stubborn, sinful ways.
22
I hear the Lord God saying to all the enemies of his people,
“You’d better come out of your hiding places,
all of you who are doing your best to stay far away from me.[o]
Don’t you know there’s no place to hide?
23
For my people will be the conquerors;
they will soon have you under their feet.
They will crush you until there is nothing left!”[p]
24
O God, my King, your triumphal processions
keep moving onward in holiness;
you’re moving onward toward the Holy Place!
25
Leaders in front,[q] then musicians,
with young maidens in between, striking their tambourines.
26
And they sing, “Let all God’s princely people rejoice!
Let all the congregations bring their blessing to God, saying,
‘The Lord of the fountain! The Lord of the fountain of life!
The Lord of the fountain of Israel!’ ”
27
Astonishingly, it’s the favored youth leading the way:[r]
princes of praise in their royal robes,
and exalted princes are among them,
along with princes who have wrestled with God.
28–29
Display your strength, God, and we’ll be strong![s]
For your miracles have made us who we are.
Lord, do it again,
and parade from your temple your mighty power.
By your command even kings will bring gifts to you.
30
God, rebuke the beast-life that hides within us![t]
Rebuke those who claim to be “strong ones,”[u]
who lurk within the congregation
and abuse the people out of their love for money.
God scatters the people who are spoiling for a fight.
31
Africa will send her noble envoys to you, O God.
They will come running, stretching out their hands in love to you.
32
Let all the nations of the earth sing songs of praise to almighty God!
Go ahead, all you nations—sing your praise to the Lord!
Pause in his presence
33
Make music for the one who strides the ancient skies.
Listen to his thunderous voice of might split open the heavens.
34
Give it up for God, for he alone has all the strength and power!
Proclaim his majesty! For his glory shines down on Israel.
His mighty strength soars in the clouds of glory.
35
God, we are consumed with awe, trembling before you
as your glory streams from your Holy Place.
The God of power shares his mighty strength with Israel
and with all his people.
God, we give our highest praise to you!
Footnotes
Psalm 68:3 As translated from the Septuagint. The Aramaic is “They rejoice in his sweetness.”
Psalm 68:4 More than an abbreviation, the name Yah is associated with the God of heaven, the God of highest glory and power.
Psalm 68:5 The Septuagint says, “the bitter ones.”
Psalm 68:5 The Aramaic says, “The rebels will dwell among the tombs.”
Psalm 68:11 As translated from the Aramaic.
Psalm 68:11 As translated from the Masoretic text.
Psalm 68:13 The Aramaic word shaphya can be translated “sharpened stakes or thorns,” an obvious prophecy of the cross and our union with Christ as he was crucified.
Psalm 68:13 As translated from the Aramaic text, this verse contains prophetic hints of Calvary, where Jesus “slept” the sleep of death between the “sharpened stakes” of the cross. The word you is plural and points us to our co-crucifixion with Christ.
Psalm 68:14 Every scholar consulted concludes that this verse is difficult, if not impossible, to interpret properly and translate accurately. The last words are literally “Snow fell in Zalmon.” Zalmon (or Salmon) was a wooded area and means “shady.”
Psalm 68:15 The Septuagint reads “mountain of provision.”
Psalm 68:17 The Septuagint says, “The Lord sends his provisions from his Holy Place on Mount Sinai.”
Psalm 68:19 The Aramaic is Maryah, the Aramaic form of YHWH or Lord Jehovah.
Psalm 68:19 Salvation is in the plural form in the text (salvations).
Psalm 68:19 Or “daily loads us with benefits.”
Psalm 68:22 The Hebrew text makes reference to Bashan (a high mountain) and to the depths of the sea. In other words, there’s no place to hide.
Psalm 68:23 The Hebrew text is literally “Your enemies will be food for the dogs.”
Psalm 68:25 As translated from the Septuagint. The Hebrew is “singers in front.”
Psalm 68:27 The Hebrew includes the names of four sons of Jacob, representing four tribes. Benjamin, the youngest son, means “son of my right hand” or “the favored one.” Judah means “praise.” Zebulon’s name is the word for “exalted.” Naphtali means “obtained by wrestling.” Each name speaks of a princely group and is used here poetically not only for Israel but for all of God’s “princely people” in this holy procession of worship.
Psalm 68:28 The Great Bible translated by Miles Coverdale (1488–1569) translates this “Your God has sent forth strength for you.”
Psalm 68:30 Literal Hebrew: “Rebuke the beasts in the reeds.”
Psalm 68:30 This verse has puzzled scholars, and many conclude that the Hebrew text is nearly incomprehensible, with tremendous variations in the translation.
1 Cor. 3:1-4 The Passion Translation
Brothers and sisters, when I was with you I found it impossible to speak to you as those who are spiritually mature people, for you are still dominated by the mind-set of the flesh. And because you are immature infants in Christ, 2 I had to nurse you and feed you with “milk,”[a] not with the solid food of more advanced teachings, because you weren’t ready for it. In fact, you are still not ready to be fed solid food, 3 for you are living your lives dominated by the mind-set of the flesh. Ask yourselves: Is there jealousy among you? Do you compare yourselves with others? Do you quarrel like children and end up taking sides? If so, this proves that you are living your lives centered on yourselves, dominated by the mind-set of the flesh, and behaving like unbelievers. 4 For when you divide yourselves up in groups—a “Paul group” and an “Apollos group”[b]—you’re acting like people without the Spirit’s influence.[c]
Footnotes
1 Corinthians 3:2 This “milk” would include the basic teachings of our faith. Even so, every newborn needs milk to survive and be sustained. See 1 Peter 2:2. The more advanced teachings Paul describes are spiritual “solid food”—something we can “sink our teeth into” and look for deeper meaning in.
1 Corinthians 3:4 Apollos was a brilliant, educated Alexandrian Jew and a follower of John the Baptizer. While in Ephesus, Apollos met Priscilla and Aquila, who directed him into deeper teachings of Christ (Acts 18:24-26). Apparently the church of Corinth was deeply divided and in need of wisdom and unity.

I don't really know what to say about this episode. God just surprised me. All I knew is that I was so frustrated with leaders and leadership. What happened to family values? What happened to our values? When did we stop demanding more from ourselves, our leaders, our role models? When did we stop being role models? When did we take our hands off the wheel and let someone else have responsibility for us, our children, our future. The only one that has these responsibilities, and so many more, is God. Our currency says "In God we trust", but we've taken Him out of everywhere that really matters. Whose fault is it? Whose going to take responsibility for our actions and decisions? We have to! And it begins at home. Week one of my new series. Let's go Lord. Take the wheel.

Galations 5:13-26 The Passion Translation
13 Beloved ones, God has called us to live a life of freedom in the Holy Spirit. But don’t view this wonderful freedom as an opportunity to set up a base of operations in the natural realm. Freedom means that we become so completely free of self-indulgence that we become servants of one another, expressing love in all we do.
14 For love completes the laws of God. All of the law can be summarized in one grand statement:
“Demonstrate love to your neighbor, even as you care for and love yourself.”[c]
15 But if you continue to criticize and come against each other over minor issues, you’re acting like wild beasts trying to destroy one another![d]
The Holy Spirit, Our Victory
16 As you yield freely and fully to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self - life.[e] 17 For your self - life craves the things that offend the Holy Spirit and hinder him from living free within you! And the Holy Spirit’s intense cravings hinder your old self - life from dominating you! So then, the two incompatible and conflicting forces within you are your self - life of the flesh and the new creation life of the Spirit.[f]
18 But when you are brought into the full freedom of the Spirit[g] of grace, you will no longer be living under the domination of the law, but soaring above it!
19 The cravings of the self-life are obvious: Sexual immorality, lustful thoughts, pornography, 20 chasing after things instead of God,[h] manipulating others,[i] hatred of those who get in your way, senseless arguments, resentment when others are favored, temper tantrums, angry quarrels, only thinking of yourself, being in love with your own opinions, 21 being envious of the blessings of others, murder, uncontrolled addictions,[j] wild parties, and all other similar behavior.
Haven’t I already warned you that those who use their “freedom” for these things[k] will not inherit the kingdom realm of God!
22–23 But the fruit[l] produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions:[m]
joy that overflows,[n]
peace that subdues,
patience[o] that endures,
kindness[p] in action,
a life full of virtue,[q]
faith that prevails,
gentleness of heart, and
strength of spirit.[r]
Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.[s]
Footnotes
Galatians 5:14 See Lev. 19:18.
Galatians 5:15 Both Aramaic and Greek manuscripts read “biting and devouring,” which is a metaphor for critical attitudes that will destroy the fellowship. These terms were often found in classical Greek literature to describe wild animals fighting each other in deadly conflict.
Galatians 5:16 Or “the natural realm.”
Galatians 5:17 The concept of the “new creation life of the Spirit” is implied in the greater context of Galatians, and referred to explicitly in 6:15–16.
Galatians 5:18 The word for Spirit is actually “Spirit-Wind.”
Galatians 5:20 Literally “idolatry.”
Galatians 5:20 Literally “witchcraft.” The Greek word for “witchcraft” can imply drug usage.
Galatians 5:21 Literally “drunken binges.”
Galatians 5:21 The Aramaic can be translated “those who devote themselves to these things.”
Galatians 5:22 The Greek word here can be translated “harvest.”
Galatians 5:22 There is clear textual inference that the “fruit” (singular) of the Holy Spirit is love, with the other virtues displaying aspects of the greatest quality of Spirit-life, agape love.
Galatians 5:22 The translator has chosen to supply action to these virtues, for they are not meant to be abstract virtues, but made visible with actions.
Galatians 5:22 The Greek word for patience is taken from a verb that means “ever tapping” or “never quitting.”
Galatians 5:22 The Aramaic word can be translated “sweetness.”
Galatians 5:22 Or “goodness.”
Galatians 5:22 Although the word self is not found in this verse, most translations render this as “self-control.” The word is actually “lordship,” or by implication “spirit-strength.”
Galatians 5:22 Literally “there is no law set against these things” or “there is no conflict with Jewish laws.”

Political Party, wk 2: "Political Agenda"
Tuesday Sep 22, 2020
Tuesday Sep 22, 2020
Political agendas are the topic of the day right now. Whoever has the top priorities that pull on your heart strings will probably get your vote. Whatever bills, propositions, and laws do the least amount of harm in your opinion will also probably get your vote. As we research, pray. Ask God what is his will for your vote. Let hHim lead you throughout this process. Each party, bill, etc. has something that we can get behind regardless of how small. Man's agenda is not important. God's is. We make our plans, but He orders ours steps.

Romans 13:1-7
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
Titus 3:9 ESV
But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.
Psalm 33:12 ESV
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
John 15:19 ESV
19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 17:14–16 ESV
14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of this world
Romans 12:2 ESV
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Ephesians 4:22–24 ESV
22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 ESV
4 Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.

Political Party - wk 1: "What really matters?"
Tuesday Sep 15, 2020
Tuesday Sep 15, 2020
Election season is always full of hot topics. Which candidate is better. Which party is better. Who will be savior of our county. Blah. Blah. Blah. Very little time is spent dealing with what really matters. Black, white, red, brown, or blue - they ALL matter. And they ALL matter the same. I'm not political, nor is this show. But, I did spend some time wondering what the word of God says about politics. Join me as I share my time with God having a Political Party.

Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. Psalm 23 (The Passion Translation)
The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd.[b]I always have more than enough.2 He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love.[c]His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.[d]3 That’s where he restores and revives my life.[e]He opens before me pathways to God’s pleasureand leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness[f]so that I can bring honor to his name.4 Lord, even when your path takes me throughthe valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way.Your authority is my strength and my peace.[g]The comfort of your love takes away my fear.I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.5 You become my delicious feasteven when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit;[h]you give me all I can drink of you until my heart overflows.6 So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life. Then afterward, when my life is through,I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!
Footnotes
Psalm 23:1 Most scholars conclude that Ps. 23 was written by David when he was a young shepherd serving his father, Jesse, while he was keeping watch over sheep near Bethlehem. He was most likely sixteen or seventeen years old. The other psalm that he wrote when but a young lad was Ps. 19. Those are two good psalms to memorize and meditate upon if you want to have the heart of the giant killer.
Psalm 23:1 The word most commonly used for “shepherd” is taken from the root word ra‘ah, which is also the Hebrew word for “best friend.” This translation includes both meanings.
Psalm 23:2 The Greek word for “love” is agape, which is a merging of two words and two concepts. Ago means “to lead like a shepherd,” and pao is a verb that means “to rest.” Love is our Shepherd leading us to the place of true rest in his heart.
Psalm 23:2 The Hebrew word menuhâ means “the waters of a resting place.” See Isa. 11:10.
Psalm 23:3 Or “He causes my life [or soul, Heb. nephesh] to return.” So often life drains out of us through our many activities, but David found that God restores our well-being by pursuing what pleases God and resting in him.
Psalm 23:3 Or “circular paths of righteousness.” It is a common trait for sheep on the hillsides of Israel to circle their way up higher. They eventually form a path that keeps leading them higher. This is what David is referring to here. Each step we take following our Shepherd will lead us higher, even though it may seem we are going in circles.
Psalm 23:4 Or “Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:5 The word oil becomes a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
John 5:5-8 (The Passion Translation)
5 Now there was a man who had been disabled for thirty-eight years lying among the multitude of the sick.[a]6 When Jesus saw him lying there, he knew that the man had been crippled for a long time.[b] So Jesus said to him, “Do you truly long to be healed?”[c]
7 The sick man answered him, “Sir,[d] there’s no way I can get healed, for I have no one who will lower me into the water when the angel comes. As soon as I try to crawl to the edge of the pool, someone else jumps in ahead of me.”
8 Then Jesus said to him, “Stand up! Pick up your sleeping mat and you will walk!”

Footnotes
John 5:5 Under the shelter of religion, there are the sick and lame and blind who can’t be healed unless they do the work and step into the pool. They are helpless and hopeless so near the Sheep Gate. But Jesus has none of the law’s requirements to put upon us for our healing, only to believe in one who is greater than angels. The man had been sick for thirty-eight years, the exact length of time Israel had wandered in the wilderness. See Deut. 2:14.
John 5:6 Jesus exercised a supernatural knowledge of this man’s situation.
John 5:6 Or “Are you convinced that you are already made whole?” The Greek phrase genesthai is actually not a future tense (“want to be healed”) but an aorist middle infinitive that indicates something already accomplished. Jesus is asking the crippled man if he is ready to abandon how he sees himself and now receive the faith for his healing.
John 5:7 The Greek word kurios means “lord” or “sir.”
